Centre ordered an investigation into a warning message sent by tech giant Apple to Opposition lawmakers, raising concerns about potential state-sponsored hacking attempts on their iPhones. The Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, made this announcement, shedding light on the unfolding situation.
Opposition leaders disclosed earlier in the day that they had received messages from Apple via a popular social media platform. These messages conveyed Apple’s suspicion that their iPhones might be targeted by state-sponsored attackers. The warning highlighted that the attackers were likely focusing on individual lawmakers due to their identities or activities. It urged the recipients to take the warning seriously, raising alarm among the political figures.

Apple, on its part, has noted that these notifications could be based on incomplete or imperfect information. The company has further suggested that some of the notifications might be false alarms, and some attacks may go undetected.
In an effort to assuage concerns, Apple has also highlighted its security measures. The company stated that Apple IDs are securely encrypted on their devices, making it extremely difficult for unauthorised access without the user’s explicit permission. This encryption is designed to safeguard the user’s Apple ID, ensuring that it remains private and protected.
