Three individuals, including a woman, were booked by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Jammu Airport for attempting to board a flight using fake Aadhaar cards. The suspects, two from Gurdaspur district in Punjab and one from Kathua district in Jammu, were trying to fly to Leh.
Reports indicate that while two of them managed to pass security checks, the third person was caught as he had mistakenly used a minor’s name on his fake Aadhaar card. This raised suspicion among airport security personnel, leading to his immediate detention.
Further investigation revealed that all three individuals had used fake Aadhaar cards to pass security checks. They were arrested, and a case was registered under FIR no. 29 at Satwari Police Station in Jammu, citing Sections 419, 420, 467, and 468 of the Indian Penal Code.
It was discovered that the airline tickets were initially purchased by a businessman in Leh for his family but were later sold to the trio at a significantly reduced rate. The tickets, valued at 15-20 thousand rupees each, were sold for four thousand rupees each. To minimise costs, the suspects resorted to creating fake Aadhaar cards for their travel.
