A sad incident unfolded in the Meethapur Chowk area of Jaitpur, south Delhi, as the lifeless body of a 48-year-old security guard and part-time traffic marshal was discovered in a nearby tire repair shop on Monday morning. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, awaiting the results of the autopsy.
The deceased, identified as Gopal Gupta, hailed from Hari Nagar Extension in Jaitpur. Gupta, employed by a private security agency, often carried out traffic control duties at Meethapur Chowk. His body was found within a tin shed, where he once operated a puncture repair shop.
Initial examinations revealed injuries to Gupta’s eyes, hands, and lips. Authorities suspect these injuries may have been inflicted by rats gnawing on the body. A person named Rajesh Sonu, who spent the night in the shop, has been detained by the police to aid in understanding the sequence of events leading to Gupta’s demise.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Rajesh Deo stated that Gupta was known to indulge in alcohol and was last seen heavily intoxicated around 10 p.m. on Sunday. He reportedly came to the shop and slept beside Rajesh before the tragic discovery was made the next morning.
