At I4C’s Foundation day, the Home Minister stresses the importance of cybersecurity in national security and urges stakeholders to unite in combating cybercrime
Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked the first Foundation Day of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) in New Delhi by launching four new platforms aimed at preventing cybercrime. Speaking at the event, Shah said that cybersecurity is crucial to national security and made key declarations to strengthen India’s digital defence.
Shah highlighted that cybercrime knows no borders and called on all stakeholders to work together to tackle the growing threat. “Cybercrime has no boundaries, and all stakeholders must unite to address this menace,” he stated.
During his address, the Home Minister revealed that India now handles 46 per cent of the world’s digital transactions, underscoring the need for enhanced cybersecurity measures. To bolster these efforts, Shah unveiled the government’s plan to train 5,000 cyber commandos over the next five years to combat rising cyber threats.
Additionally, he noted that I4C has already issued more than 600 advisories and has played a crucial role in blocking websites, social media pages, and accounts used by hackers.
The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre was established on 5 October 2018, under the Ministry of Home Affairs as a national coordination centre for addressing cybercrime across the country, reported by ANI.
