Shah urged the officers to adopt a “whole-of-the-government” approach to national security
Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasised the need to form a team of young, tech-savvy officers to dismantle terrorist networks using advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning analytics.
This call to action was made during a meeting with heads of security and law enforcement agencies to review the functioning of the Multi Agency Centre (MAC) of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). MAC serves as a platform for sharing intelligence inputs between various security and investigative agencies, allowing them to take informed action based on the information provided.
During the meeting, Shah highlighted the importance of staying ahead of new and emerging security challenges. He stated, “We must always be one step ahead in our responses.” This underscores the need for proactive measures to combat threats effectively.
Shah urged the officers to adopt a “whole-of-the-government” approach to national security. He stressed the importance of collaboration and synergy among different agencies to dismantle terror networks and their supporting ecosystems. By working together, Shah believes that these agencies can achieve greater success in their efforts against terrorism.
He also emphasized that MAC should operate 24/7, providing a platform for the proactive and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence among various stakeholders, including those at the ground level. “MAC must continue to work 24X7 as a platform for proactive and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence, amongst various stakeholders, including last-mile responders,” Shah stated.
The government is currently working on a technical and operational overhaul of MAC to expand its reach and effectiveness. This revamp aims to strengthen the platform’s capabilities, ensuring it remains a critical tool in the fight against terrorism.
As part of the overall review of internal security and the fight against terrorism, Shah called for increased engagement through MAC. He envisions it as a cohesive platform that unites law enforcement agencies, anti-drug agencies, cybersecurity teams, and intelligence organizations. This unified approach is intended to enable decisive and swift actions against security threats.
The Home Minister encouraged all stakeholders to intensify their efforts by providing prompt responses and aggressively following up on the intelligence shared through MAC. By doing so, they can bolster their effectiveness in addressing security challenges and contribute to a safer environment for everyone.
In conclusion, Shah’s message was clear: the fight against terrorism requires innovation, cooperation, and a forward-thinking approach. By leveraging modern technology and fostering collaboration among various agencies, India can strengthen its security framework and be better prepared to tackle emerging threats.
