Former Forensic Journalist Indrajeet Rai Leads Laxhar Evidence Labs to National Recognition
After spending more than two decades in television journalism investigating crime and exposing the truth through news reporting, former television editor (Ex. Executive Editor ABP News. Ex Deputy Editor, Zee News, Ex Editor Crime, Network18) and forensic journalist Indrajeet Rai has taken an unprecedented step by establishing one of India’s most advanced private forensic laboratories.
His company, Laxhar Evidence Labs Private Limited, has now been granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the Government of India’s apex accreditation body for testing and calibration laboratories operating under the Government of India.
With this achievement, Laxhar Evidence Labs has become the first forensic laboratory in Uttar Pradesh—across both government and private sectors—to receive NABL accreditation for forensic testing.
The laboratory has also become India’s first private multidisciplinary forensic laboratory to receive NABL accreditation across Digital Forensics, Physical Forensics, and Crime Scene Management.
For Mr. Rai, the journey from newsroom investigations to scientific investigations has been driven by a single objective—helping uncover the truth.
During his career, he served in senior editorial positions with leading national television news networks and became widely recognized for pioneering forensic journalism in India. His work earned him recognition from the World Book of Records for his contribution to forensic journalism. Building on years of reporting and studying forensic science, he pursued advanced academic qualifications and assembled a multidisciplinary team of forensic scientists to establish Laxhar Evidence Labs.
“As a journalist, I spent years asking questions and searching for facts. Today, forensic science allows us to answer those questions with scientific evidence. My mission is to make reliable forensic examination accessible not only to investigating agencies but also to every citizen who seeks the truth,” said Mr. Indrajeet Rai.
The NABL accreditation follows a rigorous assessment of the laboratory’s scientific competence, testing methodologies, quality management systems, technical procedures, personnel, equipment, and compliance with internationally accepted standards. The evaluation was conducted by a team of NABL assessors through a comprehensive on-site audit.
Traditionally, forensic examination in India has been largely confined to government laboratories. Laxhar Evidence Labs aims to bridge this gap by providing accredited forensic services to individuals, advocates, corporates, financial institutions, insurance companies, startups, and investigative agencies.
