Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the launch of short-term and diploma courses in disaster management and fire and emergency services, set to begin in June 2025. Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed administrative and training block at the Fire Force Headquarters in Panaji, Sawant highlighted the inclusion of full-fledged certificate courses in fire response techniques.
“These courses will not only help serving fire personnel enhance their skills but also benefit others, including college students,” Sawant said. “Disaster management courses, both short-term and long-term, are essential, and I have discussed their commencement with the department.” He added that the courses would be open to students across India, thanks to an affiliation with Nagpur’s Disaster Management College.

The newly inaugurated state-of-the-art complex, built at a cost of Rs 34–36 crore, includes barracks, administrative offices, a motor transport workshop, and modern canteen and mess facilities. The complex also houses a training institute where officers from various states and countries have undergone training.
Director of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Nitin Raiker praised the dedication of fire personnel. “We not only celebrate this modern infrastructure but honour the bravery and resilience of our fire personnel. These new facilities are a small acknowledgment of their efforts,” Raiker said.
The CM also announced that fire station buildings in Valpoi and Bicholim are under construction through the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), with the Vasco Fire Station being developed by the Public Works Department.
Additionally, Sawant launched the **Agni Sandesh** app, developed by IT engineer Milroy Gomes, which provides real-time fire updates, enhancing the state’s emergency response capabilities.
