Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral R. Hari Kumar recently inaugurated two crucial naval facilities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The first is a Precision Approach Radar (PAR) located at INS Utkrosh, designed to provide precise guidance for aircraft landing in challenging weather conditions like heavy rain and fog. This radar ensures the safety of aircraft by offering accurate horizontal and vertical guidance during low visibility scenarios.

Admiral Kumar also inaugurated the Integrated Underwater Harbour Defence and Surveillance System (IUHDSS) at the Naval Jetty in Port Blair. This system is equipped to detect, identify, and track both surface and underwater targets near the naval jetty, thus enhancing the security of the Port Blair harbour.

Accompanied by Kala Hari Kumar, President of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association, Admiral Kumar visited the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), the country’s sole operational tri-service command, from February 6 to 9. During his visit, he laid the foundation stone for sailors’ accommodation at Vijay Baugh, demonstrating the Navy’s commitment to improving living conditions for its personnel.

After touring the headquarters, Admiral Kumar visited units in the Northern and Southern Group of Islands within the ANC. He inaugurated Naval Communication Network (NCN) Centres at INS Kohassa, INS Baaz, and INS Kardip. These centres are crucial for enhancing communication and operational capabilities within the command, facilitating real-time situational awareness and joint communication efforts.

Throughout his visit, Admiral Kumar interacted with personnel deployed across various units and establishments within the Andaman and Nicobar Command. His engagement underscores the Navy’s dedication to ensuring operational readiness and enhancing security measures in the region.
