An integral component of NTT Security’s commitment to transparency and knowledge sharing is its annual Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR).
Cybersecurity breaches are drawing attention not only from large enterprises but also from small to medium businesses (SMBs) and the general public. This heightened awareness among SMBs tells about the need to heighten their cybersecurity. However, many SMBs find themselves tackling a scarcity of accessible and affordable security solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Recognising this gap in the market, NTT Security, with over two decades of expertise in threat intelligence research and product development, is pivoting its focus to democratise cybersecurity. Global Threat Intelligence Centre (GTIC), NTT Security aims to empower SMBs with the protection they require against evolving cyber threats.
The GTIC, the cornerstone of NTT Security’s efforts, transcends conventional research organisations by merging threat research with proprietary detective technology to deliver applied threat intelligence. With a mission to safeguard clients by furnishing advanced threat research and security intelligence, the GTIC equips NTT Security to preempt, detect, and respond to cyber threats effectively.
GTIC’s USP is in intelligence capabilities and NTT’s position as a leading operator of a tier 1 Internet backbone, offering unparalleled visibility into Internet usage pattern. This unique vantage point enables the GTIC to comprehend and analyse various threat actors, exploit tools, malware, and the tactics employed by attackers. Moreover, the GTIC maintains strategic partnerships with key industry players such as the Cyber Threat Alliance, Microsoft, CISA, and the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA).
An integral component of NTT Security’s commitment to transparency and knowledge sharing is its annual Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR). The GTIR offers insights into the prevailing security challenges across organisations of all sizes, accompanied by actionable recommendations to navigate the evolving threat landscape. Notably, the Q3 update of the 2023 GTIR delved into the specific cybersecurity challenges faced by key industry verticals.
The healthcare sector, with the high value of sensitive information and the rapid digitisation of healthcare services, emerges as a prime target for cyber threats. Ransomware, in particular, poses a significant threat, with a notable concentration of breaches observed in countries such as USA, Australia, and the UK.
Similarly, the telecommunications and education sectors are also facing escalating ransomware attacks, with particular trends observed in different breaches. Lockbit 3.0 emerges as a prevalent ransomware threat actor across various sectors, while specific groups like the Bloddy ransomware gang target the education sector exclusively.
By prioritising the cybersecurity needs of SMBs and harnessing the expertise of the GTIC, NTT Security endeavours to fortify businesses against the escalating cybersecurity threats. Through proactive threat intelligence and strategic partnerships, NTT Security aims to bridge the gap in the cybersecurity market, making robust protection accessible and affordable for SMBs worldwide.
