Security Guard Killed By Car At Gurugram Construction Site, Accused Released On Bail

A security guard was killed by a car at an under-construction building site in Sector 108, Gurugram. The tragic incident occurred late Wednesday night, and the driver, who initially fled the scene, has since been apprehended, according to police reports on Saturday.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Maninder Singh, is a resident of Dwarka, Delhi. Singh is employed by a private company based in Noida. On the night of the incident, Singh was driving home after visiting a relative in Gurugram. While navigating the area late at night, he failed to notice the security guard sleeping on the road and accidentally ran him over. The victim, Rajender Kumar alias Sudan, aged 48, was a resident of Dharampur village.

On Thursday morning, after learning about the incident, the victim’s family members, along with several villagers, rushed to the site. They caused a commotion, alleging that Rajender Kumar had been murdered, which intensified the situation and attracted more attention.

“While reviewing the CCTV footage, we observed a grey Swift Dzire car speeding away from the scene. Using the registration number of the car, we were able to track down the accused to his home and arrested him today,” said Sub Inspector Pradeep Kumar, who is leading the investigation.

After being arrested, Maninder Singh was released on bail. He had cooperated with the investigation, and the police were able to recover the car involved in the incident. The authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more details and ensure that justice is served for the victim and his family.

The incident has highlighted concerns about the safety of workers, especially those working at night or in hazardous conditions at construction sites. It also underscores the importance of thorough investigations and the role of technology, such as CCTV footage, in solving such cases. The community remains in shock, and the victim’s family is seeking justice and answers to how such a tragic accident could occur.
