Captain Prasan Tokas, Head of Security at Adani, spoke about the challenges and solutions to the challenge in open security systems
Captain Prasan Tokas began the keynote speech by defining Open Security as the Security that is open to the designated area. He spoke about his transition from Army to the port security in his career. His discussion brushed along the challenges and the solution in open security ecosystem. For Open Security, he outlines the major challenges which are not exclusive:
- Budgeting challenge
- Boundary world, a luxury
- Absence of layered security
- Local issues in the open environment at local sites
- Overload of information
- Language barrier and so on.
Capt. Tokas elaborated on the threats are very dynamic in an open environment. Cost increases in open environment and generally the cost is very high. Emergency response is a concern, and cyber security has been influenced from military security. He spoke about the necessity to learn terminologies like AV, ARO, SLE and others for running the business. The sensitivity is higher in military areas – high CR, low CR among other thing, according to him.
He went on to speak about the solutions to the problems like business solutions. He further said, ‘one should be a business enabler’. In open environments, he spoke about the necessity to ‘have wheels’. Planning is important in such businesses. Training is very important for the employees and night checks must be done by the person. Mock drills are important part of any situation, in emergency and for all threats. He asked the businesses to learn to expect the unexpected. In Informational Technology, one must learn to pen down the environment where all the threats are enlisted and that is how there is an understanding of all the risk that encapsulates the physical security.
