National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has appointed TV Ravichandran and Pawan Kapoor as the new deputy National Security Advisors in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
In another significant move, Rajendra Khanna, who previously served as deputy NSA, has been promoted to the position of Additional NSA.
TV Ravichandran, a 1990 batch IPS officer, is currently serving as the special director in the Intelligence Bureau. Pawan Kapoor, also from the 1990 batch, is an IFS officer with extensive experience in several missions abroad. Kapoor has held positions in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office, and has worked as an international civil servant with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. Recently, deputy NSA Vikram Misri was appointed as the Foreign Secretary.
Ajit Doval, a 1968 batch IPS officer, was appointed as the NSA for the third time by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government. He holds the rank of Cabinet Minister. Born on January 20, 1945, in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Doval joined the IPS in 1968 and was awarded the Kirti Chakra in 1988 for his distinguished services. Notably, Doval was the youngest officer to receive the Indian Police Medal.
These appointments are part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the national security framework of the country.
