Apple appears to be setting its sights on the burgeoning smart home market, aiming to compete with established players such as Google and Amazon. According to a report by *Bloomberg*, the Cupertino-based tech giant is developing a range of AI-driven devices, including a smart home hub and an advanced smart doorbell with facial recognition capabilities.

Smart Home Hub With AI  Advanced Features

Apple is reportedly working on a smart home hub featuring a six-inch display, which is expected to serve as the central control for home automation. The device, powered by a new operating system, will allow users to manage smart home devices, make FaceTime calls, and stream video content. The company also plans to integrate a new wireless chip, codenamed *Proxima*, into its ecosystem. This chip will support the Thread standard, enabling seamless wireless connectivity among compatible smart home products.

Innovative Smart Doorbell With Face Biometrics

In a move that could redefine home security, Apple is said to be developing a smart doorbell equipped with advanced facial recognition technology. Similar to the Face ID feature on iPhones, the doorbell would use biometrics to identify authorised individuals and unlock the door automatically. This innovation could simplify home access while enhancing security.

Future Prospects

The report suggests that these devices, including the doorbell and potentially other smart home gadgets like an in-home security camera, are still in development. Bloomberg predicts they may not hit the market before the end of 2025.

The proposed security camera could include features such as storing footage in iCloud, offering users a secure and centralised storage solution. Apple’s plans may also extend to third-party accessories that leverage its HomeKit technology, allowing broader integration within the smart home ecosystem.

Strengthening Ecosystem

Apple’s focus on incorporating AI and advanced wireless technology into its smart home devices indicates a broader strategy to solidify its presence in a market dominated by competitors. With its emphasis on security, privacy, and user-centric innovation, Apple could carve a unique space in the smart home landscape.

While details remain scarce, the company’s entry into this domain signals a potentially significant shift in the smart home market dynamics, promising greater convenience and smarter solutions for users.
