UK-based radar firm Blighter has secured multiple international contracts from the British government for its electronic-scanning ground surveillance systems, contributing to a £25m order book over the past year.
The deals include deployments in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Europe, as well as one unnamed Five Eyes nation. The contracts cover both fixed and mobile radar systems, some mounted on surveillance vehicles and armoured platforms, others installed along national borders.
Blighter’s B400 series radars, which are solid-state and non-rotating, are designed to operate continuously with low maintenance in harsh conditions. The firm cited the Korean Demilitarised Zone as a reference site, where over 100 of its radars have been in operation since 2011.
The systems support the detection of personnel, vehicles and low-flying aircraft, with software tools for threat classification and pattern-of-life analysis. The radars also use low-probability-of-intercept waveforms to reduce detectability and can be assembled locally in certain regions, the company said.
