Cloud Security Firm Wiz Acquires Gem Security For $350 Million

Israeli cloud security firm Wiz is set to increase its capabilities with the acquisition of fellow Israeli cybersecurity company Gem Security, according to insiderst the reports. According to the Sources deal is going to be of $350 million in cash to seal the agreement.

Gem Security, established in 2022 by CEO Arie Zilberstein, CTO Ron Konigsberg, and VP of Product Ofir Brukner, boasts a pedigree rooted in the esteemed IDF 8200 intelligence unit. Last September, Gem Security successfully secured $23 million in a Series A funding round, indicating growing investor confidence in its offerings.

Sources close to the deal affirm that Gem’s expertise will be integrated into Wiz’s suite of solutions. Moreover, all 70 employees of Gem Security, spanning locations in Israel and the US, are poised to transition to Wiz, ensuring a smooth continuity of operations.

Commenting on the development, Wiz expressed enthusiasm about the strategic move, hinting at the company’s overarching vision. “This marks an exciting chapter for Wiz. While we are unable to divulge specific details until formalities are concluded, we are actively exploring opportunities for mergers and acquisitions that align with our commitment to enhancing the value proposition for our clientele,” stated a representative from Wiz.

With an impressive $900 million in cash reserves and an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $350 million, coupled with a clientele that includes over 40 per cent of Fortune 1000 companies, Wiz emerges as a formidable player in the global cybersecurity landscape.

Moreover, Wiz highlighted its commitment to expansion, both in terms of technological capabilities and human capital. “We continuously evaluate prospects that not only drive our growth trajectory but also resonate with our ambitious plans for talent acquisition,” the company spokesperson added, underscoring Wiz’s dedication to scaling operations while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
