The announcement coincides with the fourth edition of the Godrej Value Co-Creators Club (GVCC) Awards, popularly known as The GeeVees
Locks & Architectural Solutions, a key business unit under the Godrej Enterprises Group, has outlined ambitious growth plans, setting its sights on achieving Rs 2,500 crore in revenue by 2028. The company continues to strengthen its leadership in home safety, driven by innovation, a strong digital product lineup, and rising consumer demand for smart security solutions.
One of the significant contributors to this growth trajectory has been the company’s digital locks segment, which now accounts for 10 per cent of the overall business. The segment has posted a remarkable 45 per cent year-on-year growth, fuelled by the growing preference among younger consumers for connected, design-driven safety products. The brand has also seen its e-commerce sales double, reflecting the shift in consumer buying behaviour towards online platforms and quick commerce channels.
“Today’s consumers prioritise accessibility and convenience, making e-commerce and quick commerce integral to our growth strategy. Our e-commerce business has doubled year-on-year, highlighting the demand for seamless and innovative security solutions,” said Mr. Shyam Motwani, Business Head, Locks & Architectural Solutions, Godrej Enterprises Group. “To meet evolving consumer needs, we are expanding our portfolio, strengthening key touchpoints, and driving greater awareness around smart safety solutions,” he added.
The announcement coincides with the fourth edition of the Godrej Value Co-Creators Club (GVCC) Awards, popularly known as The GeeVees. This year, the platform has expanded significantly, attracting participation from over 2,100 architects and garnering more than 4,000 submissions. Scheduled to be held in Goa on March 8, 2025, the awards will celebrate excellence in design, innovation, and sustainability, and will feature a roundtable discussion with industry leaders.
Underpinning Godrej’s growth plans is its manufacturing backbone – the Madkai Locks Facility in Goa. Established in 1998, the facility is one of Asia’s largest locks manufacturing plants, covering seven acres. The facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing and R&D units and produces approximately one million locks per month, catering to both domestic and international markets.
The facility also places a strong emphasis on technology and automation, with end-to-end manufacturing capabilities including press shops, die-casting units, in-house tooling, and dedicated product innovation teams. Women make up 40 per cent of the workforce, with all-women assembly lines dedicated to specific product categories such as Rim locks, and women professionals operating hi-tech CNC machinery on the shop floor.
On the sustainability front, the Madkai facility is GreenCo certified and operates with environmentally responsible practices. It features five rainwater harvesting pits and recirculates 90 to 95 per cent of processed water using a mechanical evaporator. Its plating plant is among the most eco-friendly in Asia, while solid waste is entirely diverted from landfills and co-processed for cement production. The plant also plans to source 40 per cent of its energy from renewable sources by 2026, with digital systems in place to monitor and optimise power, water, and fuel consumption.
Some of the key products manufactured at the Madkai facility include Rim locks, door closers, mortise locks, and a wide range of padlocks, reflecting Godrej’s continued commitment to innovation and quality in the home safety space.
By leveraging favourable government policies, including the introduction of BIS standards in locks, sustained investments in R&D, and its Make in India focus, Godrej’s Locks & Architectural Solutions division is well-positioned to achieve its growth ambitions and further solidify its leadership in the evolving home safety market.
