Local law enforcement personnel will also receive specialised training, enhancing their ability to tackle cybercrime and contributing to a more secure digital landscape
With India witnessing a surge in cyber frauds, particularly courier-related scams, Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world’s largest express transportation company, has launched a nationwide cybersecurity awareness and training programme. The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with local police, Cyber Security Cells, and United Way Mumbai, aims to create a safer digital environment across the country.
“In 2024, India reported losses over INR 1.7 billion in cyber frauds. As cybercrime continues to escalate, raising awareness is our best defence,” said Nitin Navneet Tatiwala, Vice President of Marketing, Customer Experience, and Air Network for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) at FedEx. “With this initiative, we aim to empower communities with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves and to foster an informed and secure digital environment throughout the nation.”
The programme is set to reach over 10,000 people, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, women, and adolescents. Participants will be educated on safe online practices and trained to identify and prevent cyber threats, including phishing, identity theft, digital payment scams, and social media fraud.
Local law enforcement personnel will also receive specialised training, enhancing their ability to tackle cybercrime and contributing to a more secure digital landscape.
George Aikara, CEO of United Way Mumbai, highlighted the significance of collaboration in building digital resilience. “At United Way Mumbai, we believe that collaborative action is key to driving meaningful societal change. This partnership with FedEx, local police, Cyber Security Cells, NGOs, colleges, and communities reflects our shared commitment to equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely. Together, we aim to build a resilient and empowered community, fostering a safer digital ecosystem for all,” he said.
FedEx’s efforts are not only geared toward safeguarding its business operations but also promoting an inclusive and secure digital future for individuals, businesses, and communities across India.
