Goa Police Crackdown On Unlicensed Security Firms

A list of 165 authorised agencies has been published as part of a new drive to shut down illegal operators and tackle gang violence

The Goa Police have published a list of 165 private security agencies that are legally authorised to operate in the state, in a move to crack down on unlicensed firms. The action follows a stern warning from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who vowed to shut down illegal agencies to curb gang-related violence and improve law and order.

In his Independence Day address, Sawant announced that only agencies registered under the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 (PSARA) would be permitted to function. “All security agencies not registered with the Home Department will be shut down,” the Chief Minister stated.

The Goa Police have urged the public, businesses, and job seekers to verify the credentials of any security agency they plan to engage with or work for. The department emphasised that using an unlicensed agency is a legal offence, and both the agency and its clients will face immediate action. The complete list of registered agencies and their details is now available to the public.
