Google has launched a new high-end subscription service offering users exclusive access to its most advanced artificial intelligence tools, as it looks to monetise its AI developments and reduce its reliance on advertising revenue.

Unveiled at the company’s annual developer conference, Google I/O, the new “Google AI Ultra” plan will cost USD 249.99 (around £200) per month and includes a suite of experimental and premium features, such as early access to unreleased tools, higher usage limits, and a YouTube Premium subscription.

“It’s for the trailblazers, the pioneers, those of you who want cutting-edge AI from Google,” said Josh Woodward, head of Google Labs and the Gemini app. “You can think of this Ultra plan as your VIP pass for Google AI.”

Subscribers will gain access to Gemini 2.5 Pro with its new “DeepThink” mode, designed for complex research tasks, as well as new tools like Flow, an AI filmmaking assistant, and Notebook LM, which can turn notes into podcasts. The plan also includes 30 terabytes of storage—described by the company as “massive”—alongside experimental features such as Project Mariner, which allows users to run multiple tasks simultaneously, and early access to Veo 3, Google’s new video-generation tool.

Google already charges for premium AI and cloud features under its “Google One AI Premium” tier, which ranges from USD 19.99 to USD 149.99 a month depending on the storage capacity. The AI Ultra plan targets users willing to pay more for top-tier tools as competition in the generative AI space intensifies.

The move follows OpenAI’s December launch of ChatGPT Pro, a USD 200 monthly offering with priority access to its most powerful models.

Google said the AI Ultra plan is initially launching in the US this week, with availability in other countries to follow in the coming months.
