India’s national cybersecurity agency has issued a high-severity alert for a wide range of Apple devices, warning that multiple vulnerabilities could leave millions of users exposed to hacking threats. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued the alert, dated September 16, urging owners of various models of iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks to update their systems immediately.

The agency’s warning is directed at a significant portion of Apple’s user base, as the vulnerabilities affect devices running older versions of several of the company’s operating systems.

According to the CERT-In bulletin, the security flaws could lead to a variety of exploits, including sensitive information disclosure, remote code execution, denial of service, and data manipulation. The agency noted that these risks are present in devices used for both personal and business purposes.

The warning applies to a number of operating systems and applications, including:

Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 26, 18.7, 16.7.12, 15.8.5

Apple macOS Tahoe versions prior to 26

Apple macOS Sequoia versions prior to 15.7

Apple macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.8

Apple tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS versions prior to 26

Apple Safari versions prior to 26

Apple Xcode versions prior to 26

The new iPhone 17 series, which is scheduled to go on sale later this week, is not affected by the vulnerabilities. The alert serves as a critical reminder for all users to regularly check for and install the latest security updates to protect their devices from potential threats.
