Lucknow Police Rolls Out ‘Eagle Mobile’ Units To Strengthen Crime Surveillance

Under the initiative, each of the 51 police stations in Lucknow will now operate a two-member team — comprising constables or head constables

In a move aimed at enhancing grassroots crime monitoring, the Lucknow Police has introduced a new initiative titled ‘Eagle Mobile’. This step, led by Police Commissioner Amarendra Kumar Sengar, focuses on deploying dedicated surveillance teams across the city’s police stations to track habitual offenders and strengthen intelligence gathering.

Under the initiative, each of the 51 police stations in Lucknow will now operate a two-member team — comprising constables or head constables — equipped with a two-wheeler and basic surveillance tools. These ‘Eagle Mobile’ teams will not be assigned routine law-and-order responsibilities. Instead, their focus will be squarely on identifying and monitoring active criminals in their designated areas.

The core objective of the programme is to create detailed dossiers on criminals and verify their whereabouts by physically visiting their homes. Each team will receive daily assignments that include the preparation of at least ten dossiers and the tracking of twenty individuals listed in their records. These lists will include history-sheeters, gang members, and convicts who have been recently released from jail.

To support real-time coordination, all teams will be connected through a dedicated WhatsApp group. The group will serve as a communication hub for daily updates, including a list of released prisoners whose addresses are to be verified on priority.

Once completed, the dossiers will be scanned and forwarded to the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB). They will also be uploaded onto the Trinetra App through the respective Station House Officers (SHOs), according to a statement released by the Lucknow Police.

Officials say the initiative is designed to improve on-ground visibility and build a more structured surveillance mechanism at the local level. By focusing solely on criminal intelligence and avoiding routine policing duties, the ‘Eagle Mobile’ units are expected to enhance the accuracy and responsiveness of crime tracking in the city.
