In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra has intensified its security protocols to ensure public safety and maintain essential services. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis convened a high-level security review meeting in Mumbai on Friday, bringing together senior officials from the police, municipal administration, disaster management, and state administration to assess and enhance the state’s preparedness.
“Whether it is the police, whether it’s the Coast Guard or the Navy, everyone is on alert. There are regular exercises and SOPs are in place,” stated Chief Minister Fadnavis, emphasizing the state’s proactive stance in the current situation.
Enhanced Security Protocols & Public Awareness
The state government has directed all districts to conduct comprehensive security drills and establish dedicated war rooms to ensure seamless coordination during emergencies. Hospitals are mandated to maintain operations during potential blackouts by utilizing alternative power supplies, and measures such as blackout curtains and shielded glass are being implemented to prevent external visibility.
To foster public awareness, educational videos and advisories will be distributed, informing citizens, including students, about blackout protocols and safety responses. Municipalities, particularly in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, are instructed to collaborate with housing societies to disseminate this information effectively at the grassroots level.
Cybersecurity & Information Warfare

Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India has alerted banks and non-banking financial companies to remain vigilant against potential cyber attacks originating from Pakistan, prompting heightened security measures within the financial sector.
Operational Readiness & Infrastructure Protection
Emergency funds have been released to all district collectors, empowering them to make urgent purchases as needed. The Chief Minister has mandated that any significant proposals related to security and preparedness be approved within an hour to ensure prompt action.
Maritime and aerial surveillance efforts have been intensified, with the state prepared to hire private fishing trawlers to bolster coastal patrols. Discussions on drone threats have led to the deployment of anti-drone systems, and authorities are directed to remain prepared for rapid medical responses and civilian evacuations if necessary.
Coordination & Public Communication
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized the urgency of safeguarding vital installations, including oil depots, ports, rail terminals, and key infrastructure such as the Atal Setu and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. He noted ongoing coordination between the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, police, disaster management agencies, and coastal security forces.
Citizens are cautioned against sharing videos or photographs of military movements or preparedness activities on social media, as such actions pose serious risks to national security. “Information will be given by the CMO. Don’t panic. Our agencies are strong,” Mr. Shinde stated, urging the public to avoid falling prey to misinformation.
Administrative Measures & Future Planning
To ensure uninterrupted readiness, the state government has cancelled leave for all senior officials in key departments, including health and disaster management. A follow-up meeting will soon be held with the heads of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard to assess requirements and ensure seamless coordination between the armed forces and civil administration.
While there is no immediate threat to Mumbai or Maharashtra, the government underscores the importance of vigilance, transparency, and preparedness. Citizens are encouraged to stay alert, cooperate with authorities, and rely solely on official sources for verified information.
