Ahmedabad is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Coldplay concert this weekend, with an extensive security cordon involving over 4,000 personnel, including the elite Black Cat Commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG). The British band’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ concert, part of their world tour, is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, with more than one lakh attendees, including several VVIPs, expected on both days.
The security plan includes a deployment of one team from the Special Composite Group (30 SCG) of the NSG stationed in Gujarat, three Quick Response Teams (QRTs), one State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team, and 10 teams of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). Two CCTV surveillance teams will also be on-site.
The Ahmedabad City Police will deploy a 3,825-strong force, comprising 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 25 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 63 inspectors, 142 sub-inspectors, and 3,581 head constables and constables. Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel will be stationed at metro stations and other critical locations, while traffic police will oversee the outer perimeter and approaches to the stadium. Firefighters and paramedical teams equipped with ambulances will also be present to handle emergencies.

The route from Janpath T-junction towards Krupa Residency and up to Motera T-junction will remain closed for traffic on both days of the concert. Alternate routes include Tapovan Circle to ONGC Crossroads, Janpath T-junction to Prabodh Raval Circle, and another route via Sharan Status Crossroads to Bhat Koteshwar Road and Apollo Circle.
Parking & Transport Services
To accommodate concertgoers, 14 parking locations have been designated within a 2.7 km radius of the stadium. These include 10 for four-wheelers, three for two-wheelers, and one composite parking ground. Concert organisers have partnered with the ShowMyParking app to provide detailed parking information. Additionally, 75 cars will operate free shuttle services between parking areas and the venue.
Western Railway has announced an increase in train services between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, running three pairs of trains on the concert days instead of the previously planned two. Meanwhile, metro services are expected to be extended until 12:30 am instead of the usual 10 pm, ensuring smooth transportation for attendees.

With a robust security setup and comprehensive transport arrangements, the city is poised to host one of the largest musical events in recent years.
