The company’s success in 2024 was driven by a combination of strategic acquisitions, a deepened focus on research and development, and a commitment to responsible technology development
Video technology leader Milestone Systems marked a pivotal year in 2024, reporting a significant 18.7 per cent increase in net revenue and reinforcing its position as an innovation-driven enterprise. The company reached a major financial milestone by surpassing DKK 2 billion in revenue, up from DKK 1.7 billion in 2023. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) also rose to DKK 106.8 million, underscoring strong operational performance despite global uncertainties.
“Milestone has delivered exceptional results in 2024, marked by significant growth in both revenue and earnings,” said Lars Larsen, Chief Financial Officer at Milestone Systems. “We consider this to be a very satisfying result, underscoring the resilience and strength of our business.”
The company’s success in 2024 was driven by a combination of strategic acquisitions, a deepened focus on research and development, and a commitment to responsible technology development. The acquisitions of BriefCam, a leader in video analytics, and Arcules, a cloud-native video surveillance platform, have significantly broadened Milestone’s technological capabilities and market reach.
Doubling Down on R&D
Milestone’s dedication to innovation is reflected in its investment strategy. The company allocated DKK 478 million — approximately 23 per cent of its total revenue — to research and development. This represents a 34 per cent increase over 2023, demonstrating a long-term commitment to staying at the forefront of video technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
“Milestone and our colleagues and partners have shown great resilience and achieved impressive outcomes in a time of significant change around the world,” added Larsen. “Focusing on strengthening our innovation means that today, we are positioned well to be the frontrunner of the technology-enabled era that awaits.”
Strategic Vision for 2025
Looking ahead, Milestone aims to accelerate its innovation roadmap, integrating BriefCam and Arcules into its ecosystem while continuing to grow its presence in the global market. The emphasis will be on scaling its AI-enabled and cloud-based offerings, while maintaining a strong commitment to ethical technology.
“Our priorities are clear: integrate BriefCam and Arcules seamlessly into our operations and culture, expand our market presence with a strong product offering, and continue pushing the boundaries of responsible innovation in video technology and AI,” said Thomas Jensen, Chief Executive Officer at Milestone.
Project HAFNIA: A Responsible Innovation Milestone
In line with its commitment to ethical innovation, Milestone recently announced Project HAFNIA in collaboration with NVIDIA. The initiative is set to create the world’s first privacy-compliant, anonymised and annotated visual data platform for training AI models — a move designed to support cities, organisations, and institutions in utilising and sharing video data responsibly.
“We are very proud of Project HAFNIA, where NVIDIA and Milestone Systems are bringing our combined technological skills into creating a privacy-compliant data platform that helps cities, organisations, companies and public institutions to utilise and share video data,” Jensen noted. “With ethically sourced data, we can now also build the world’s first anonymised and annotated visual data library platform for training future AI-models.”
With a strong financial performance, strategic partnerships, and a sharpened focus on responsible tech, Milestone is poised to shape the future of data-driven video surveillance and analytics in 2025 and beyond.
