Milestone Systems, a leading provider of open platform video management software (VMS), has introduced XProtect 2024 R1, an update designed to enhance cybersecurity, streamline VMS operations, and provide new customisation capabilities to meet the evolving needs of customers.
The XProtect 2024 R1 update includes significant improvements aimed at fortifying cybersecurity and ensuring compliance with industry standards. One of the key features is the XProtect Update Manager, which simplifies the deployment of hotfixes across multiple servers from a central location. This centralised approach not only strengthens VMS systems but also reduces operational costs. Additionally, the Care Reminder feature in the Management Client alerts administrators when their Care subscription is nearing expiration, enabling proactive renewal to maintain uninterrupted support.

A notable feature is the new Multiroom Audio capability in XProtect Hospital Assist, which allows medical staff to monitor multiple patient rooms simultaneously through live video and audio feeds. This feature improves the ability of medical staff to respond promptly to critical situations, enhancing overall patient care.
Furthermore, XProtect 2024 R1 introduces a Combined Media Player Format in the XProtect Smart Client, which simplifies the sharing of video exports by allowing users to compile multiple video sequences into a single file. This streamlines investigations and enhances collaboration among teams.
For users of XProtect Rapid REVIEW, the 2024 R1 update optimises user role management to ensure appropriate access rights without compromising security. The release also includes the innovative Fast Track capability, enabling investigators to locate objects quickly across adjacent cameras by utilising the camera geolocation setup in XProtect. Additional user-experience enhancements, such as the ability to search for cameras by tags, provide a more intuitive interface for operators.
