The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to assume security command of the Noida International Airport project this month, a key step in preparing the facility for its operational launch in November 2025. The handover is a significant move that finalises the airport’s security framework in the lead-up to its opening.

According to Shailendra Bhatia, the nodal officer for Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the arrangements for the security contingent are now in their final stages. The airport operator, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), has already formally communicated with both the CISF and the Ministry of Home Affairs to confirm the deployment.

The security plan for the new airport will be executed in three distinct layers. The CISF will be responsible for the first and most critical layer of protection inside the airport complex. This inner ring of security will be supplemented by a second layer handled by private security hired by the airport operator. The third and outermost ring of security will be managed by local police.

In total, 1,047 CISF personnel are scheduled to be deployed at the international airport.

Finalising the security takeover required extensive logistical planning, particularly for housing the new contingent. According to Bhatia, accommodations for the personnel have been fully arranged.

Of the total strength, 323 married personnel will be provided with Type-2 residences.

Another 144 will be allotted Type-4 accommodation in Greater Noida’s Omicron sector, under arrangements made by the Greater Noida Authority.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has taken responsibility for housing 10 senior CISF officers.

The remaining 570 unmarried personnel will be accommodated directly within the airport premises.

With these arrangements in place, the security takeover marks a crucial step toward the airport’s operational readiness ahead of its scheduled opening.
