AI should have human intervention so that it stays in control, says expert
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of cyber security by providing advanced threat detection, prevention, and response capabilities. AI-powered cyber security solutions can analyse vast amounts of data in real-time, identifying patterns and anomalies that may indicate potential threats.
“AI is definitely here to stay, it is not going anywhere. In security per say whether it is predictive analysis, enhanced video surveillance or data analysis on such a large scale AI is going to be here, however AI should have human intervention so that its stays in control,” said Maj Vashita Mehra, Sr Director, MMC Global Security.
AI in security enables swift detection and prevention of cyber attacks, reducing the risk of breaches and minimizing the impact of incidents.
“AI has been around for quite a time disguised as your virtual assistant, Siri. AI is going to evolve into our day to day lives to a much greater extent. There’s a responsibility lies in the people who design these AI models to use it in the right way and put it in the right context so that it does not go into providing misinformation,” said Siddharth Jha, Director, Soteria.
While moderating a panel discussion at BW Security World 40 under 40 awards, Jaspreet Singh, Clients & Markets Leader-Advisory Services, Grant Thornton, highlighted the assuming nature of AI tools. He stated the biased information provided by AI should be held accountable and we should have a framework around ethical use of AI.
These platforms use machine learning algorithms to forecast and prevent cyber attacks, providing organisations with actionable insights and visibility into security threats.
“Whatever data is required it should be to the minimum and keep the anonymity in data. There are a lot of other things also which require transparency. Otherwise this mega data will create a level of biasness,” Capt. Allroy A Collaco, Director-Projects, CAPSI.
Garima Goswamy, Cofounder & CEO, Dridhg Security International stated the measures on how corporates can stop misuse of the AI, she said, “The best step is to identify the risk, the worst possible scenarios and discovering mitigation measures. Cybercrimes are evolving rapidly and we need to be extra vigilant to protect ourselves from the misuse of AI.”
AI-driven intrusion detection and prevention systems detect and prevent cyber attacks in real-time, while AI-powered endpoint security solutions protect devices from cyber threats, including malware and ransomware.
“In the security landscape we deal with a lot of data, hence AI in security helps to analyse data to assess threat, vulnerability and risk. AI is also going to revolutionise surveillance systems and help to analyse the vast amount of footage to provide a proper solution. Further it is also going to fill the gap created by human error,” said Nand Kishore Bhatt, Head Investigation, Nayara Energy.
