Held at CII Northern Region Headquarters, the conference aimed at fostering stronger ties between private security agencies and law enforcement.

The event, guided by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, brought together key figures from the security sector and the state government. Principal Secretary for the Department of Home Affairs, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, along with Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security, SS Srivastava, inaugurated the conference.

Other notable attendees included Secretary for Industries, Commerce and Investment Promotion, DPS Kharbanda, ADGP Traffic AS Rai, and CII Punjab Chairman, Abhishek Gupta.

While addressing the gathering, Principal Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s support for private security agencies while emphasizing the need to comply with the PSAR Act. He noted that the act’s rules were being updated to better regulate the sector and praised the role of private security agencies in creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

ADGP SS Srivastava, speaking at the inaugural session, stressed the importance of collaboration between private security forces and law enforcement to maintain a secure environment. He outlined the key provisions of the PSAR Act, addressing concerns such as the misuse of uniforms by private security personnel. “We want you all (private security forces) to work as force multipliers. Our motto is to collaborate and cooperate,” he said, underlining the importance of private security within the broader security framework.

The day-long conference featured multiple sessions on topics such as emerging trends in private security, training and skill development, the role of women in the sector, employee rights, and potential challenges faced by the industry. Experts from both private security and law enforcement shared insights, discussing best practices and future opportunities for collaboration. The sessions also highlighted advancements in technology and innovation within the sector.

This initiative reflects Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to regulating and strengthening the private security industry, ensuring its alignment with state law enforcement goals.
