According to the findings, 45 per cent of respondents reported a surge in doorstep activity during Christmas due to the rise in deliveries

A recent study by Yale, a leading lock manufacturer, has revealed that more than half of Britons now use smart video doorbells to enhance their home security. The research highlights that the festive season, characterised by increased deliveries and valuable gifts stored at home, has prompted many to prioritise their safety.

According to the findings, 45 per cent of respondents reported a surge in doorstep activity during Christmas due to the rise in deliveries, while 37 per cent expressed concerns over heightened security risks stemming from having more valuables at home.

To address these concerns, 53 per cent of those surveyed said they rely on smart devices like the Yale Smart Video Doorbell or Smart Outdoor Camera to manage their interactions with delivery drivers. These tools allow homeowners to communicate with couriers remotely, ensuring parcels are placed in secure locations.

Boosting Home Security

Yale is encouraging customers to integrate its Smart Security Ecosystem to further enhance protection during this period. This system, controlled through a smartphone app, includes a range of alarms, cameras, and locks designed to offer seamless security and convenience.

Karl Woolley, Head of Product Management at Yale, underscored the importance of proactive measures to prevent burglaries, particularly during darker winter evenings.

“Earlier and darker nights can provide more cover for burglars to approach homes undetected. Simple measures such as ensuring all doors and windows are locked or installing security lights or cameras outside are a great first step in improving home security,” said Woolley.

The Smart Security Ecosystem, accessible via the Yale Home app, provides homeowners with the ability to monitor and control their security devices from their phones, offering peace of mind and improved safety.

Safety In Digital Age

As more people embrace smart home technology, these solutions are becoming an integral part of modern household security. With features like live video monitoring, real-time notifications, and two-way communication, devices like smart video doorbells are proving invaluable in deterring potential intruders and ensuring the safety of residents during the festive season and beyond.

Yale’s initiative reflects a growing trend towards using technology-driven solutions to address evolving security challenges, providing Britons with an accessible and efficient way to protect their homes and loved ones.
