AP Govt. Forms High-Level Committee To Strengthen CCTV Surveillance & Integration

The Andhra pradesh government has established a dedicated committee to enhance the surveillance infrastructure by overseeing the installation, operation, and integration of CCTV systems across the region. This committee, comprising senior officials from various departments, aims to standardise and strengthen security protocols while addressing privacy concerns.

The committee is chaired by the Principal Secretary of the Department of Real-Time Governance, with members including Principal Secretaries from the Home, ITE&C, TR&B, Industries and Commerce, I&I, MAUD, and Endowments departments. Other key members are the Additional DGP (Law and Order), IGP (Home), district collectors, the APSFL Managing Director, and the CEO of RTGS, who also serves as the convener.

The primary focus of the committee is to ensure the seamless functionality and maintenance of CCTV cameras. It will also develop protocols for accessing data, reviewing footage, and safeguarding privacy. Further responsibilities include improving surveillance strategies, recommending standard operating procedures for integrating systems across government departments, and exploring ways to incorporate private CCTV networks into the State’s framework. The committee will also work towards identifying innovative use cases to enhance security and governance.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to modernising surveillance systems and fostering coordination among various stakeholders. By integrating diverse systems and adhering to stringent privacy norms, the committee seeks to build a comprehensive and secure surveillance network across the State.
