Launched during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, CyberShiksha addresses the growing risks faced by students in an increasingly connected world

Indusface, a global leader in Application Security SaaS with over 5,000 customers across 95 countries, is championing cybersecurity awareness through its nationwide initiative, CyberShiksha. Aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge and tools to navigate the digital world safely, CyberShiksha has already impacted more than 6,000 students across India and plans to reach many more in the coming months.

Launched during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, CyberShiksha addresses the growing risks faced by students in an increasingly connected world. A 2022 McAfee report highlighted that 85 per cent of Indian children have encountered cyberbullying—the highest rate globally. Additionally, over a third of students are vulnerable to cyber threats, including identity theft, financial scams, and other online dangers.

Through interactive sessions, CyberShiksha empowers students with practical knowledge about cybersecurity laws, helpline resources, and best practices for staying safe online. The programme also builds awareness about recognising phishing attempts, avoiding unverified downloads, creating strong passwords, and enabling multi-factor authentication.

Schools such as Cygnus World School, Auxilium Convent High School, Podar International School, Pramukh Swami Vidhya Mandir, and Auro Mirra International School have hosted the sessions, engaging students from grades 7 to 12. Participants have responded positively, showing increased awareness of digital safety and greater confidence in adopting secure online behaviours.

Commenting on the initiative, Nandini Tandon, Co-Founder and Chief People Officer at Indusface, said, “As cyber threats evolve, our responsibility to protect younger generations becomes increasingly critical. Through CyberShiksha, we are not only creating awareness but also fostering a proactive approach to online safety. By equipping students with the right knowledge and tools, we aim to build a generation that is resilient and cyber-aware.”

The impact of CyberShiksha extends beyond students, as educators and school staff have also benefited from the sessions. Teachers have found the content insightful and relevant, enabling them to adopt better security practices in their personal and professional lives.

Ms R. Kumar, a teacher at Cygnus World School, shared, “The CyberShiksha session was an eye-opener not only for the students but for us as well. We learned about security practices that we can implement in our own lives and pass on to our students. CyberShiksha is more than just an awareness programme—it’s an essential toolkit for today’s digital age.”

Principals and teachers have observed that students increasingly relate the lessons from CyberShiksha to their own experiences, underlining the importance of continued digital safety education. Beyond awareness, the initiative introduces students to career pathways in cybersecurity, inspiring them to consider advanced studies or professions in information security.

Indusface remains committed to transparency and education through its quarterly cybersecurity reports, providing insights to clients and the community at large. With CyberShiksha, the organisation is fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness, ensuring young people are prepared to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

As Indusface expands its outreach, initiatives like CyberShiksha underscore the critical role of education in combating cyber threats and empowering the next generation to take proactive steps toward a secure digital future.
