Zilla Security’s AI-powered IGA platform has been built from the ground up to meet the security challenges of today’s digital landscape
CyberArk (NASDAQ: CYBR), a global leader in identity security, has announced the acquisition of Zilla Security, a company known for its modern Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions. The deal, valued at USD 165 million in cash with an additional USD 10 million earn-out based on milestone achievements, is expected to enhance CyberArk’s AI-powered Identity Security Platform with advanced automation for compliance and identity provisioning.
As organisations undergo digital transformation, they require scalable security solutions that extend seamlessly across hybrid and cloud environments. Traditional IGA systems, originally designed for on-premises environments, rely on manual processes and slow deployment cycles. These limitations often prevent businesses from achieving full value from their investments. In contrast, modern IGA platforms, such as Zilla’s, are cloud-native, leveraging AI-driven automation to improve governance, identity compliance, and lifecycle management.
Zilla’s Role In Strengthening CyberArk’s Identity Security Portfolio
Zilla Security’s AI-powered IGA platform has been built from the ground up to meet the security challenges of today’s digital landscape, which is marked by the rapid adoption of SaaS applications, decentralised management, and evolving identity-based threats. The platform automates identity compliance and provisioning, making governance more intuitive and efficient. According to CyberArk, customers that have transitioned from traditional IGA solutions to Zilla have reported faster deployments, reduced compliance effort, and significantly fewer service requests for access management.
Matt Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of CyberArk, highlighted the importance of integrating modern IGA into CyberArk’s offerings.
“As enterprises navigate the proliferation of privilege in complex identity landscapes, modern IGA capabilities become critical for protecting digital assets and maintaining business agility. By expanding the CyberArk Identity Security Platform with Zilla’s modern IGA capabilities, we will reshape identity governance with scalable automation that delivers compliance and helps maximise security for the modern enterprise,” Cohen said.
He also welcomed Zilla’s co-founders, Deepak Taneja and Nitin Sonawane, along with their team, to CyberArk, emphasising their deep expertise in IGA.
Modern IGA For Changing Security Landscape
Deepak Taneja, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Zilla Security, stressed the need for a shift in how organisations approach identity governance and administration.
“What worked 20 years ago clearly doesn’t work today. Zilla represents a fundamental shift in how organisations can manage identity governance and administration. By harnessing the power of AI, we’ve automated IGA, making it simpler, faster, and more cost-effective. And now with CyberArk, we’ll be offering our breakthrough technology as part of the broader CyberArk Identity Security Platform, reaching many more customers on a global level,” Taneja said.
With the acquisition of Zilla, CyberArk aims to offer a more comprehensive AI-powered Identity Security Platform that ensures:
Discovery and onboarding of all identities, with risk assessment and contextual mapping.
The right level of privilege controls, covering entitlement management, session management, credential management, and authentication management.
Automated lifecycle management, governance, and compliance policies, enhancing efficiency and security.
Bridging Gap In Identity Governance
Industry experts have noted the limitations of traditional IGA systems in meeting modern security needs. Andy Walker, Vice President and General Manager of Technology Deployment Services at Optiv, noted that CyberArk’s acquisition of Zilla will fill a crucial gap in the identity security market.
“Traditional IGA systems have not kept up with the needs of the modern enterprise. A unified approach to identity security that incorporates modern IGA capabilities into a single platform will be a tremendous benefit for CyberArk’s customers,” Walker said.
Zilla’s Solutions Now Available as Standalone Offerings
Zilla’s IGA capabilities will be available through CyberArk as standalone solutions, including:
Zilla Comply – Automates user access reviews and evidence documentation, simplifying the audit process with integration and automation.
Zilla Provisioning – Uses AI-driven automation to streamline access management, covering tasks such as onboarding, role transitions, and offboarding, while ensuring that all identities receive the appropriate level of access.
