Personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at the Kamala border outpost in Jaynagar, reported the appearance of “mysterious drone-like illuminated objects”
Unidentified drone-like objects were seen hovering over the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Madhubani district late on Monday, prompting a security investigation, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at the Kamala border outpost in Jaynagar, reported the appearance of “mysterious drone-like illuminated objects” entering Indian airspace from the Nepal side, according to Yogendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Madhubani.
“The glowing, tiny objects were visible for around half an hour before they returned towards Nepal. The Indian Air Force authorities in Darbhanga and Delhi were immediately informed, and a probe has been launched,” Kumar said. The district police were also notified and are maintaining close coordination with central agencies, he added.
In response, all police stations along the India-Nepal border have been instructed to step up patrolling and maintain heightened vigilance. Bihar shares an expansive and porous border with Nepal, which has frequently been exploited by illegal immigrants and smugglers to enter Indian territory.
Security arrangements have already been tightened across the state ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit beginning 29 May, with agencies remaining on high alert in the wake of the drone sightings.
