A multi-agency response was deployed, involving personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and bomb detection and disposal squads
Security operations were stepped up at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday after an anonymous email threatened to blow up the premises.
Authorities launched an immediate investigation following the email, which warned of an imminent bomb attack. The message was received by the airport’s official ID, prompting security personnel to initiate a thorough search of the airport premises.
A multi-agency response was deployed, involving personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and bomb detection and disposal squads. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service as teams combed through terminals, parking areas, and cargo zones.
Airport officials said the search operation was precautionary and that no suspicious object had been found as of Monday evening. Operations at the airport continued with heightened vigilance but were not disrupted, according to police sources.
While the threat is currently being treated as a hoax, the source of the email is under investigation. Senior officials said digital forensics teams were analysing the message trail to identify the sender.
The incident follows a series of similar threats reported at other high-traffic public facilities across India in recent months, many of which have turned out to be false alarms.
A statement from airport authorities reassured the public that all necessary safety protocols had been followed and that passenger safety remains the top priority.
