The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority (ADCDA) has announced a major collaboration with the US-based National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to develop an integrated fire prevention system across the Emirate. The initiative aims to align Abu Dhabi’s safety standards with the NFPA’s internationally recognised protocols, reinforcing the Emirate’s drive for a safe and sustainable society.
The project is designed to position Abu Dhabi as a global model in fire safety and prevention, bolstering the strategic relationship between the ADCDA and the NFPA. Officials said the move also seeks to foster shared government and community responsibility in fire prevention.
Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, emphasised that the project adopts “creativity and innovation” to achieve the highest safety standards and strengthen the Emirate’s global standing in fire prevention.
“By embracing this forward-looking approach, the Authority is pioneering risk anticipation and the development of innovative preventive solutions that strengthen Abu Dhabi’s institutional reputation locally and internationally,” Brigadier General Al Dhaheri said.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Harthi, the Project Director, described the initiative as a “qualitative leap” for fire prevention in the Emirate. He explained that it will help build a sustainable preventive infrastructure, ensure facility readiness, and raise community awareness of safety standards in line with international best practices.
The ADCDA stressed that the project represents a strategic step toward establishing a comprehensive and sustainable prevention system, ultimately supporting Abu Dhabi’s objectives of protecting lives, property, and the environment.
