Inspiration can come from anywhere, and a recent and best example of it can be Risheek Kumar Sharma, a 17-year-old cyber expert getting recognised for his efforts across the cyber security domain and getting rewarded as “Future cybercrime researcher of the Year” at one of the largest cyber security conferences in India “Future Crime Summit” held at Delhi on 8 and 9 February.
Risheek hails from a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir, despite his humble start, he worked hard enough to excel in the career of his choice as he was committed enough to make an impact in the similar run he founded the first cyber security firm of J&K, Hacker’s Pathshala, being committed to the aim of strengthening cyber security defences.
Apart from his entrepreneurial accolade, Risheek also works as a cybersecurity trainer at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, where he plays a crucial role in equipping law enforcement professionals with the latest tools and techniques to combat cybercrime effectively. His practical training sessions, covering topics such as cybersecurity in governance and investigation methods, have received widespread acclaim.
Deputy Superintendents of Police (DYSPs) and Inspector-ranked officers from multiple regions across India, such as Jaipur, Tamil Nadu, Bhopal, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir, participated in the training sessions. Risheek’s thorough approach and extensive expertise made a significant impact that was remembered long after.
During the valediction of one such training program, Risheek was honoured with a memento by the Assistant Director of the academy, acknowledging his valuable contribution to the program. The positive feedback received from the academy’s director further underscores Risheek’s effectiveness as a cybersecurity trainer.
