State-of-the-art cyber command centre to strengthen cybercrime response and national security with advanced tech solutions
Maharashtra has unveiled India’s first integrated state-level Cyber Command and Control Centre in collaboration with L&T Technology Services (LTTS). The initiative aims to create a safe and resilient digital environment, addressing growing cyber threats to citizens, businesses, and critical infrastructure across the state.
The cutting-edge facility was inaugurated by Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, at Mahape. The centre, developed in partnership with LTTS and M/s KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services LLP, will equip Maharashtra with world-class technology and expertise to combat cybercrime. It will also accelerate investigations, improve conviction rates, and build capacity within the police force, while raising awareness of cyber risks among the public.
Fadnavis emphasised the transformative nature of the centre, saying, “Maharashtra has set a benchmark to provide a world-class platform to tackle cybercrimes with global cutting-edge technologies and highly skilled cyber experts. This ensures the timely resolution of cybercrimes and assures digital safety for citizens, enterprises, and critical infrastructure.”
Advanced Features of the Cyber Command Centre
The Cyber Command and Control Centre (CCC) will serve as a one-stop shop for managing grievances and cybercrime reports via multiple channels, including the new helpline 14407, which will be operational from 15 October 2024. The centre integrates over 50 global forensic technologies, 17 threat intelligence tools, and 13 cybersecurity systems that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies.
In addition to providing support for citizen and enterprise complaints, the facility’s Nodal Cyber Police station and 50 district-level cyber police stations will assist in investigations using Technology Assisted Investigation (TAI) tools. For critical infrastructure and national security incidents, the CERT-MH (Cyber Emergency Response Team Maharashtra) will respond in coordination with other agencies, offering proactive AI-driven threat intelligence to the industry.
Building Expertise & Infrastructure
Amit Chadha, CEO and Managing Director, L&T Technology Services, stated, “We are delighted to collaborate with the Maharashtra State Cyber Department on this groundbreaking project. Our experience in delivering 25+ Smart & Safe Cities command centres and Security Operation Centres has been leveraged to develop this facility. This initiative will not only combat cybercrime but also provide citizens and enterprises with confidence in their digital safety.”
The Cyber Centre of Excellence within the facility will play a key role in capacity building by training over 150 cybersecurity experts and investigators. It will also spearhead citizen awareness campaigns to educate the public about the risks associated with cybercrime and best practices for digital safety.
The centre is poised to revolutionise Maharashtra’s cybersecurity landscape by reducing cybercrime, improving response times, and enabling better management of cyber incidents. By streamlining operations and using advanced forensic and AI technologies, the CCC will be a model for other states in India seeking to strengthen their cybersecurity infrastructure.
