Nine Succumbed To Tragic Fire In Hyderabad’s Residential Building, Raises Security Concerns

In an unfortunate incident on Monday morning in the Bazarghat area of Hyderabad’s Nampally, a massive fire occurred in  a five-storey residential building, resulting in the tragic loss of nine lives, including six members of the same family. Ten individuals were successfully rescued from the engulfed structure.

Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP, Hyderabad, disclosed that the rapid spread of the fire was exacerbated by highly inflammable chemicals stored on the building’s ground floor. The victims succumbed to asphyxiation as fire and smoke quickly enveloped the premises.

Mann assured that the fire is now under control, and a comprehensive investigation will be launched to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. “Appropriate action will be taken post the investigation,” he affirmed.

The emergency response commenced when the control room received a distress call at 9:34 am, reporting a car ablaze on the street. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire had originated in the cellar, where chemical drums were stored. A fire officer at the scene noted the rapid spread of flames, contributing to the unfortunate loss of lives.

In a concerning twist, a police officer clarified that the fire originated on the ground floor, utilised as a garage. This development raises security concerns, as it highlights the potential dangers associated with the storage of highly flammable substances in close proximity to residential areas.

The incident underscores the critical need for stringent safety measures and a reevaluation of security protocols in areas where hazardous materials are stored.
