PM & Home Minister To Review Security In Jammu & Kashmir Following Terror Attacks

A high-level meeting is scheduled for Sunday, where Shah will discuss the situation with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and senior officials from the Army and CRPF

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assessment of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also reviewed the region’s security scenario amid recent terrorist attacks.

A high-level meeting is scheduled for Sunday, where Shah will discuss the situation with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and senior officials from the Army and CRPF. The meeting will focus on assessing the current security scenario in the Union Territory and evaluating measures to curb terrorist activities.

During this meeting, the Home Minister will also review the readiness of the security grid for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, which is set to begin on June 29. On Friday, senior security and Home Ministry officials briefed Shah on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the actions taken following recent terrorist attacks.

In a meeting on Thursday chaired by the Prime Minister, senior officials were instructed to ensure the “deployment of the full spectrum” of “counter-terror capabilities.” The Prime Minister discussed counter-terror operations and the deployment of security forces with Shah. He also received updates on the security situation from Lieutenant Governor Sinha. NSA Ajit Doval and other senior officials were present at this meeting, where the Prime Minister was given an overview of the security-related situation in Jammu and Kashmir and informed about the counter-terror efforts in the region.

The urgency of these reviews comes after a series of attacks. Last Sunday, nine pilgrims were killed and 33 injured when a bus was attacked in Reasi. Since Tuesday, a CRPF jawan and two militants have been killed, and seven security personnel injured in three separate encounters in Doda and Kathua districts.
