RailTel Partners With Cylus To Strengthen Cybersecurity For Indian Railways

RailTel plans to integrate Cylus’ advanced technology, CylusOne, into its existing systems, with a particular focus on safeguarding the railway’s signalling and control systems

In a significant effort to enhance cybersecurity for Indian Railways, RailTel has announced a strategic partnership with Cylus, a leading cybersecurity firm specializing in solutions for the rail industry. This collaboration aims to improve the cybersecurity framework of Indian Railways, addressing the growing need for robust protection in the sector.

RailTel, a prominent public sector enterprise known for its telecommunications and ICT solutions, will work with Cylus to secure critical railway systems, including signalling, trackside operations, onboard systems, and SCADA networks. The partnership’s primary objective is to ensure the security of these essential components, which are crucial for the smooth and reliable operation of the rail network.

RailTel plans to integrate Cylus’ advanced technology, CylusOne, into its existing systems, with a particular focus on safeguarding the railway’s signalling and control systems. These systems are vital for the railway’s operation, making their security a top priority. The collaboration is designed to bring Cylus’ sophisticated cyber defence solutions to the Indian market, enhancing cybersecurity across both railway and public transport sectors. By incorporating these cutting-edge technologies, the partnership seeks to address and mitigate emerging cyber threats, thereby strengthening the overall security of critical infrastructure.

Cylus will provide expert services to ensure the seamless integration of CylusOne into RailTel’s systems, which will improve cybersecurity across various areas, including railway signalling and telecom networks. To further bolster the sector’s defenses, Cylus will also partner with RailTel’s Digital Service Partner, Rail Edutech Pvt Ltd, to offer specialized cybersecurity training programs. These programs are designed to elevate cybersecurity in the Indian railway, contributing to a more secure and resilient infrastructure.

RailTel and Cylus are committed to advancing the safety and reliability of Indian Railways by enhancing its cybersecurity framework. Sanjai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of RailTel, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Indian Railways is undergoing a major technological upgrade, with cybersecurity being a top priority.
