An encounter broke out between police and Maoists in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district Thursday morning
Six Maoists were killed, and two security personnel injured in an encounter with police in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday. One of the injured officers is in critical condition and undergoing treatment, according to police sources.
District Superintendent Rohit Raj confirmed the clash, stating that the encounter occurred between police and Maoists early Thursday morning.
This follows another incident on Tuesday when nine Naxals were killed in a forest operation at Dantewada-Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. The nine Naxals were killed during an encounter operation in the forest at Dantewada-Bijapur on Tuesday.
Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai said large numbers of SLR rifles, .303 rifles and .315 Bore rifles were recovered from the Naxals. All security force personnel involved in the operation were safe.
In response, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the bravery of the forces, adding that the BJP has been combating Naxalism since coming to power and aims to eliminate it entirely.
Earlier this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating left-wing extremism (LWE) by March 2026. Shah stressed that the battle against LWE, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is nearing its final stage, calling for a strong and decisive approach.
“The Modi government has worked to instil confidence among the people in development instead of the ideology of left-wing extremism. The Union Home Minister called upon the youth involved in left-wing extremism to shun violence and join the Mahayagya of development of the country being led by Prime Minister Modi,” Amit Shah said.
Shah also encouraged youth involved in LWE to abandon violence and join the national development agenda under PM Modi’s leadership.
