With over 300 sensitive locations identified, the police have mapped areas based on past incidents to ensure timely intervention
The Delhi Police will deploy 25,000 personnel across the national capital on Friday to maintain law and order, as this year’s Holi celebrations coincide with Friday prayers during Ramzan. The security arrangements will also include paramilitary forces, with authorities keeping a close watch on the city through drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring.
With over 300 sensitive locations identified, the police have mapped areas based on past incidents to ensure timely intervention. A senior officer said, “We have traced PCR calls made in the last two years on Holi and recognised the most vulnerable areas. The time period in which most of these calls have been made is between 12 pm and 8 pm… vigilant patrolling will be carried out during this time.”
In South district alone, 1,500 police personnel will be deployed, the officer added.
Community Engagement For Peaceful Celebrations
To ensure a peaceful atmosphere, Delhi Police has been conducting regular meetings with Aman committees, mosque imams, and resident welfare associations (RWAs) in different districts.
Authorities have also planned heightened patrolling around 1.30 pm, when Friday prayers will begin. A senior officer stated, “Police will be vigilant in mixed population areas and JJ clusters… CAPF companies will also be deployed.”
Traffic & Law Enforcement Measures
In addition to security deployment, district police teams will work with Delhi Traffic Police to enforce traffic rules at major intersections. Special teams will be stationed to check drunken driving and red-light violations, while radar guns will monitor speeding vehicles.
Drone surveillance will further assist law enforcement in preventing any untoward incidents as the city navigates the overlapping festivities and religious observances.
