Humane Warns AI Pin Owners To Cease Using Charging Case Due To Fire Hazard

The company clarified that this problem is specific to certain battery cells and not the design of the charging case itself

Humane, the company behind the AI-powered wearable device known as the “AI Pin,” has issued an urgent safety warning to its customers. In an email, the company has asked users to stop using the provided charging case immediately due to a potential fire hazard. The issue is related to certain battery cells in the charging case, which “may pose a fire safety risk,” according to the company’s statement.

The company clarified that this problem is specific to certain battery cells and not the design of the charging case itself. Humane reassured users that the AI Pin device, its magnetic Battery Booster, and the charging pad are unaffected and “safe for continued use.”

The problem came to light after a single report of a “charging issue while using a third-party USB-C cable and third-party power source.” This led to an investigation, which uncovered the battery cell issue. Humane has since disqualified the problematic third-party vendor and is looking for a new supplier to “maintain our high-quality standards.”

As a response, Humane is offering affected customers two free months of their subscription service, which is essential for most of the AI Pin’s functionality. However, it remains unclear whether the company will provide replacement charging cases. Humane has promised to “share additional information when we have concluded our investigation.”

Despite the urgency of the issue, some customers are concerned that Humane has not communicated the safety warning more widely. As of now, there is no mention of the issue on the company’s website or social media channels.
