“Meet Your New Cybersecurity Companion that Fights Phishing 2.0 and AI Attacks” Says 63SATS Cybertech Chief
In an era where our mobile devices have become extensions of ourselves—holding our identities, financial data, and personal lives—the threat of cybercrime has never been more immediate or personalized. The pandemic-driven acceleration of digital adoption has thrust billions into an online world, yet for many, security remains an afterthought, often limited to basic antivirus tools. As technology evolves at breakneck speed, so too do the tactics of scammers, giving rise to sophisticated threats like AI-driven attacks and deepfakes. It’s a landscape where the simple belief, “it won’t happen to me,” is dangerously outdated.
To discuss this critical shift and the innovative solutions required to protect everyday users, BW Security World Talked with Mr. Srinivas L, Joint MD and Joint CEO of 63SATS Cybertech. With over 25 years of global experience in technology, security, and innovation, Mr. Srinivas L spearheads CYBX, a consumer-focused, next-generation cybersecurity application. He shares his insights on why awareness is just the first step and how a new, comprehensive approach is necessary to secure our increasingly mobile-centric digital lives.
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is all about empowering individuals to take charge of their online safety. From your perspective, how important is awareness when it comes to protecting everyday smartphone users?
Awareness is an extremely important and initial layer of defense in cybersecurity. The biggest benefit of awareness is to eradicate the mindset that people are immune to cyber threats. Most mobile users believe “it won’t happen to me” until they face a scam or data breach firsthand. We need to educate users that every digital interaction in their lives, from making payments to clicking a link or downloading something on their devices, carries cyber risks. Awareness of scams and potential threats can help individuals develop safer digital habits and be more cyber aware.
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a timely reminder for all of us that while we are increasingly depending on technology, we should also consciously protect our digital lives. While awareness is crucial in the contemporary digital world, a practical approach is also necessary. We must stay informed and adopt trusted solutions like CYBX that seamlessly bring cybersecurity to our digital routines.
63SATS Cybertech has launched CYBX, the world’s first cybersecurity app for individuals. What inspired this innovation, and how is it different from traditional antivirus or security tools?
63SATS Cybertech has already been catering to corporates and governments with enterprise-grade security solutions. Yet, we recognized that a consumer- and individual-focused solution was needed as digital adoption outpaced security awareness. People were living more of their lives on mobile for day-to-day activities. Post-Covid, the adoption of digital increased as more people used their phones for payments, banking, trading, shopping, and even healthcare. All sectors moved to digital adoption, yet the protection of these devices was limited to basic antivirus tools.
With CYBX, we were looking to go beyond traditional antivirus security or traditional caller apps and introduce a one-place solution to all cybersecurity problems. CYBX wanted to bridge the gap with a consumer-first approach and provide a complete 360-degree shield to mobile users with real-time scam alerts, secure calling, phishing protection, identity safeguards, and even India’s first mobile cybersecurity insurance cover of up to INR 10 lakhs.
The inspiration and goal was not just to build a digital security tool but a cybersecurity companion that protects users in the background while they go about their digital lives.
Digital payments and UPI frauds are on the rise. What role does CYBX play in protecting financial transactions on mobile devices?
With the rise in digital payments, UPI and digital wallets have witnessed an increased adoption, which has unfortunately also led to a rise in financial frauds. CYBX is built to address this financial vulnerability. CYBX identifies and alerts users to phishing links, prevents fake QR and OTP scans, detects insecure apps, and also warns users against call recording activities. These features provide a complete mobile cybersecurity solution to individuals, but let us say a person meets with financial fraud despite CYBX alerts; in that case, we have built India’s very first mobile cybersecurity insurance coverage to be there for that one day! CYBX, apart from its solutions, stands out in case of cyber financial loss and users with insurance coverage of up to INR 10 Lakhs. We have combined financial assurance with our proactive prevention service so that users can talk safely, click safely, and pay safely!
The cybersecurity landscape is evolving with AI-driven attacks, deepfakes, and phishing 2.0. How is CYBX preparing to stay ahead of such emerging threats?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping our digital world at an unprecedented speed. AI’s use is not just limited to users, but scammers and fraudsters have also extensively adopted it as a tool in their acts. Scammers are now using deepfake voices, AI-generated phishing pages, and personalized baits that attack users. These lures are built and placed all over the internet. These emerging threats are growing at an alarming rate, and CYBX is built to ensure users stay safe against such attacks. We have created real-time alerts, pattern recognition tools, and threat intelligence to identify potential risks. CYBX’s goal is to learn from user behavior, anticipate risks, and deliver proactive alerts. We are defending mobile users from not just the threats of the present but are creating a shield against the future and emerging AI-driven threats.
Looking ahead, what’s your vision for how personal cybersecurity apps like CYBX can change the way individuals approach digital safety in the next 3–5 years?
To envision the next 3-5 years of cybersecurity, we must first look back. People were relying a lot on their computers for work and personal usage. As they started realizing how the virus started entering their systems, they started installing antivirus software. Antivirus became a non-negotiable part of personal computers, and people looked at it as a necessity. But now, our mobile dependency has been increasing, and we also see a surge in cyberattacks. With everyday news on cyberattacks, people have started realizing this is a potential risk. As people become more cyber-aware, we see cybersecurity apps like CYBX becoming crucial for smartphones. In the near future, I envision cybersecurity going from an “add-on” to being embedded into everyday lives. Cybersecurity will be given the same importance as car seatbelts as people look for caution in their digital habits. The mindset that “it will not happen to me” is slowly becoming “fear” of scams, and it will surely become a “digital companion/need” in the near future. I believe that people will adopt CYBX as a necessity for secure communication, banking, and browsing and will also feel financially safe with the insurance coverage.
Finally, what message would you like to give users this Cybersecurity Awareness Month about taking ownership of their digital security?
If I were to give one message to users this Cybersecurity Awareness Month, it would be: “Your mobile holds more value than your wallet. It carries your identity, your money, your privacy, and your trust. Just like you would be worried about pickpockets and lock your homes to stay home, you shouldn’t go online without digital security. Awareness is the first step, and a practical approach is what you need now.” This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, CYBX urges you to take ownership of your digital safety and practice safe habits. We are supporting the cause with campaigns, contests, and quizzes on our social media channels to boost conversations and education on cybersecurity topics.
