With excitement building for the India-England One-Day International (ODI) match scheduled at Barabati Stadium on Sunday, February 9, a high-level coordination meeting was held on Tuesday to finalise arrangements for the much-anticipated event.

The meeting, chaired by Central Division Revenue Commissioner Parameswaran B., was attended by officials from the district administration, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), Odisha Olympic Association, police department, health department, and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). The focus was on ensuring smooth and secure conduct of the match, which is expected to draw a large crowd.

Commissioner of Police S Devadatta Singh has called for heightened security measures inside and outside the stadium. Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena elaborated on the crowd control strategy, traffic management, and secure transit for players. “Entry and exit will be regulated through four designated gates, with personnel stationed to manage security and sanitation,” Meena stated.

The district health department has confirmed that ambulances and medical teams will be on standby for emergency response. SCB Medical College and Hospital, Ashwini Hospital, and KIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar will collaborate to provide healthcare support. The OCA has also arranged separate medical facilities for spectators.

To ensure a clean and well-maintained environment, the CMC will carry out beautification, sanitation, and mosquito fogging operations around the stadium. An uninterrupted power supply has been assured by the local power distribution company, while the public works department will set up a temporary stage for the award-giving ceremony.

Food safety officers will be deployed to monitor hygiene standards at food stalls. In a bid to ease spectator movement, special bus services will operate from Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminus, Trishulia, and Cuttack railway station.

Authorities have emphasised that all departments have been instructed to execute their responsibilities efficiently to ensure a well-organised and safe event for cricket fans. The match is expected to not only offer thrilling action on the field but also highlight the city’s capability to host major sporting events.
