Sharjah Police said that securing construction sites is both a preventive measure and a legal obligation
Sharjah Police have launched a new safety initiative aimed at protecting construction sites from theft, vandalism and unsafe practices. The campaign, titled Safe Construction Environment, has been rolled out in collaboration with Sharjah City Municipality and the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD). It will run until the end of November.
According to officials, the programme seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of security at building sites and encourages property owners, contractors and developers to work closely with authorities. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance public safety across the emirate and protect ongoing construction and infrastructure projects from loss or damage.
Sharjah Police said that securing construction sites is both a preventive measure and a legal obligation. Authorities are engaging with stakeholders across the sector to strengthen compliance and ensure safer working environments for labourers as well as nearby communities.
Under the campaign, Sharjah Police have outlined several key measures for improving site security. These include installing CCTV cameras to provide round-the-clock monitoring, appointing security personnel, and using temporary barriers or fencing to prevent unauthorised access. The police also urged developers to purchase construction materials only from licensed suppliers and maintain proper invoices to avoid legal issues related to unverified or illegal materials.
Officials said the initiative aims to reduce risks, improve safety levels and support the smooth progress of development projects across Sharjah.
