Heightened Security Measures in Noida and Greater Noida for New Year’s Eve

Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh outlined the comprehensive security arrangements, which include heightened vigilance at malls and public places

With heavy crowds expected in Noida and Greater Noida on New Year’s Eve, the Gautam Budh Nagar Police have ramped up security across the district. Nearly 3,000 police personnel, supported by seven companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), have been deployed to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents.

Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh outlined the comprehensive security arrangements, which include heightened vigilance at malls and public places. “We have made an elaborate security arrangement in the district for New Year’s Eve. All the malls in Noida and Greater Noida have been instructed to check dark areas, like parking zones, and rectify [issues] immediately,” Singh said.

To enhance safety, mall authorities have been directed to deploy additional security staff near women’s washrooms and to install safety nets outside buildings to prevent accidents, especially in cases of inebriation.

Traffic & Drunk Driving Measures

In addition to security arrangements, the police have implemented strict measures to regulate traffic and curb incidents of drunk driving. Vulnerable stretches known for speeding have been identified, and traffic personnel equipped with speed guns will be stationed to penalise offenders.

To manage traffic flow and discourage reckless driving, zigzag barriers will be placed at 115 locations across the district. Breathalyser tests will be conducted at 30 key junctions to ensure drivers are not under the influence of alcohol.

The police department’s proactive steps aim to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors celebrating the New Year. Citizens are urged to cooperate with law enforcement and adhere to safety regulations to make the festivities enjoyable and incident-free.
