A bomb threat targeting the Baba Ramdev temple in Pokhran town, Jaisalmer district, has raised serious security concerns. The threat emerged after an anonymous letter was discovered at the ticket window of the Pokhran railway station, according to police officials.

The letter, found around 7:45 p.m., revealed a plot to blow up the temple by hiding a bomb inside a horse being brought as an offering for the deity. It further claimed the involvement of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in orchestrating the conspiracy. Following the discovery, security around the temple has been significantly tightened, with authorities taking the threat seriously.

In addition to the temple, the letter also mentioned plans to target the ongoing Ramdevra fair, a major event in the region. Upon receiving the information, railway staff immediately notified the police, prompting them to issue an alert and inform all relevant security agencies. In response, heightened security measures have been put in place, including thorough checks on all horses brought as offerings by devotees.

“The letter states that the Ayodhya verdict was not justified, and as a result, a bomb will be set off at the Ramdev temple on November 9,” said Superintendent of Police S. Parimala. Efforts are currently underway to trace the sender of the threatening letter, and additional security forces have been deployed to monitor the area.

The Baba Ramdev temple, dedicated to the 15th-century saint Baba Ramdev, is a significant pilgrimage site, especially during the annual Baba Ramdev Bhadwa Fair. Known as the “Kumbh of Marwar,” the fair attracts millions of devotees from across the country. A grand ‘Mangala Aarti’ is held at 4 a.m., and heavy police deployment is arranged to manage the large crowds. Senior officials oversee security throughout the event, which is so important that local authorities declare a public holiday.

Baba Ramdev is a revered figure, symbolizing Hindu-Muslim unity. While Hindus worship him as a deity who promoted social harmony, Muslims honor him as Ramsa Pir. His teachings emphasized the importance of eradicating social discrimination, making him a unifying figure across religious lines.

Baba Ramdev’s spiritual legacy is also closely tied to his guru, Balinath, whose samadhi is located 12 km away from Ramdevra at a site known as ‘Guru Ka Dhuna.’ Devotees often visit Balinath’s samadhi before proceeding to Baba Ramdev’s final resting place in Runicha, believing it completes their spiritual journey and fulfills their wishes. According to Narendra Singh, the president of the Masuria temple, around 50 lakh devotees visit the temple every year, seeking blessings and spiritual guidance.

The bomb threat has cast a shadow over the ongoing Ramdevra fair and the temple, which is a major symbol of peace and unity. Authorities are on high alert to prevent any potential harm, ensuring that devotees can continue their pilgrimage safely. Security forces remain vigilant as investigations into the origins of the threatening letter continue.
