Cyber Attack On Air Canada, Employee Data Leaked

Canada’s largest airline, Air Canada, faced a cyberattack where hackers trespassed its internal systems, exposing personal data of undisclosed employees. However, the breach did not impact flight operations or customer information

In its recent statement  Air Canada, the largest airline of Canada has confirmed to the rumours that it has suffered a pernicious cyber attack on 21 September.

The company notified that hackers obtained limited access to the employee records and certain personal information of the firm.

Although the flight information system and customer facing systems remain unaffected in the attack. Airline has assured confidentiality to its existing customers regarding their personal information.

“We can also confirm all our systems are fully operational. We have since implemented further enhancements to our security measures, including with the help of leading global cyber security experts, to prevent such incidents in the future as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the security of the data we hold,” the company asserted.

Moreover, the airline has maintained silence regarding the threat actor.

Air Canada’s notification followed closely after a warning from the Canadian government about a cybercrime group with pro-Russian ties conducting DDoS attacks on Canadian organiSations. Earlier this month, Airbus, a major French aerospace company, initiated an inquiry in response to a hacker’s release of information purportedly taken from its systems. This same hacker also asserts that they infiltrated the FBI’s InfraGard database and disclosed data supposedly pilfered from the credit reporting company TransUnion.
