A devastating collision involving an LPG tanker and multiple vehicles transformed a section of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway into a fiery disaster early Friday morning, leaving at least nine people dead and dozens injured. The accident occurred around 5:30 am near a petrol pump, causing widespread panic and chaos.
Vivek, a survivor of the incident, recounted his narrow escape. “I was on my way home with two friends. Everything unfolded right before my eyes. There is usually a traffic jam at this junction because of trucks taking turns. When I saw smoke coming from a truck, I initially thought it was a gas leak,” he said.
However, moments later, an explosion rocked the area. “As soon as I tried to reverse my car, the blast happened. I jumped out and ran to the other side of the highway. Vehicles around us started catching fire. My two friends were injured, one critically. If I had been late by even two seconds, I would have been caught in the fire,” Vivek added.
Another eyewitness, a school van driver, described the scene as “frightening.” He said, “I saw people running and shouting for help. A man was engulfed in flames. The fire brigades and ambulances arrived but faced difficulties reaching the spot.”
